The "100's " Project is our ministry to the Homeless, Kids at Risk, and Single Moms in the San Jacinto Valley.
Project Managers: Debby Alten,
Ginger Galloway
Long-Term Goal: to host free classes for the homeless, the poor, as well as
women living in drug and alcohol rehab centers. These workshops will include
writing classes, publishing classes, as well as job preparedness workshops at
absolutely no charge to the participants. Our classes will offer opportunities
for training and employment.
Eventually, we would like to open a
library/bookstore with a thrift store called "My 2 Cents Worth." The ideal building for
this is a house (in a business zone) rather than a storefront. We will provide
free, and almost-free, merchandise.
Higher-end merchandise will be presented at
thrift-store prices to offset the costs of operations. As support increases and
the store expands, it is our intent to provide bedding, sleeping bags,
backpacks, raincoats, umbrellas, and other larger items to make life easier and
more comfortable for people living on the streets or in subpar housing.
One room in the store will be set up
with computers and tables to provide free internet access, academic and job
training classes, and creative writing, art, and craft workshops.
Our aim is to establish this
library/house-store on an acre of land (or larger) to include a community
garden with picnic tables and benches.
Immediate Goal: to raise funds for
care packages, and supplies for writing classes, which may include
slightly-used laptops.
